Student leaders on campus exert enormous influence on the student population. Also, many student leaders on campus come out to become leaders in the larger society, including the political space.
at Foundation for Leadership & Education Development, we understand this fact. We also recognize the need to give student leaders definite leadership training using standardized training modules to build their capacity to lead well and support school authorities to collaboratively administer the school.
What is LESEC?
Leadership Skills Enhancement Course (LESEC) is a specialized leadership development Course that builds the competence of undergraduate student leaders on Campus. The Course deals with the theoretical and practical challenges student leaders face and how they can handle them.
Since 1998, student leaders in different institutions in Nigeria have been trained by FLED. A Training Manual for conducting this training has been duly assessed by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Who Should Act
All federal, state, or private, academic tertiary institutions in Nigeria, are expected to enroll their student leaders in this course. These include:
Universities
Polytechnics
Monotechnics
Colleges of Education
If student leaders on your campus have not undergone this leadership training course, you have not given them the right mental preparation to take on leadership challenges.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To enable participants:
- Identify what leadership is and what it is not.
- Develop practical leadership skills including team skills and goal setting.
- Recognize values that sustain leadership including Fairness, Trustworthiness, Respect, & Accountability.
- Develop the ability to communicate assertively, make decisions, and take responsibility.
- Acquire basic skills in conflict resolution for Peer Mediation
- Recognize and apply the principle of due process, in relating to school authority.
- Reconcile academics with leadership responsibilities.
OUTCOMES

- Enhanced knowledge of the concept of leadership
- Increased ability to work together as a team in setting and implementing goals.
- Practical demonstration of leadership values such as fairness, Trustworthiness, Respect, & Accountability
- Increased readiness to mediate among students in resolving minor conflicts in the school.

- Increased ability to create vision and take responsibility for leadership
- Reduced tendency to promote cultism and other social vices on campus.
LESEC is a foundational course that prepares students leaders for the challenges of leadership both in school today and in the larger society.

COURSE DELIVERY
LESEC is offered as a Hybrid Course. It can be held for students onsite or online. The full course content is designed to be delivered in a 3-day duration onsite or online.
FEE FOR ONSITE TRAINING
The cost is for the group of students, not exceeding 1o0 participants. We do not charge per individual participant. We are available to conduct the training in any institution in Nigeria, no matter the location. .
One-day: N650, 000
2-day: N900, 000
3-day: N1,500, 000
The fee is inclusive of the workbook, writing materials & Certificates of participation, only. Refreshments for participants and venue are taken care of by the institution. The online course is on special arrangement.
Course Location
For security and cost, we prefer the course to be conducted within the school facility, not outside, unless the school decides otherwise and can afford it.
REGISTRATION
We accept one-off payments or in two installments. But full payments must be made before the start of the training. Without payment, your school cannot be booked for the course.
